Cassandra is mid season in Volleyball at American University in Washington, DC. She is Captain as a Junior. She is living with great roommates in a wood-floored apartment close by campus, on the sixth floor, with a million dollar view. Really. She will be coming home for Christmas in less than two months. She'll be taking the MCAT exam and applying for medical school in the spring of 2010.
Xan is a senior at Brighton High School and is starting big guy on his Basketball Team. He is taking Marketing, US Government, Weight lifting, Jewelry and Personal Finance in preparation for college just next year. He doesn't know where he'll be going to college yet. Xan has become a huge Brighton Volleyball Fan, cheering wildly on behalf of his alumni sister ;)
Princess is purring more, but is unusual in that she can actually purr and growl at the same time. She cansit in front of a mirror and view what is behind her, which cats can't understand-only dogs. hmmm...
Speaking of dogs, Nickie, black and beautiful, is finally getting very old. Her days of climbing fences 8 feet tall and jumping and hanging from 12 foot cement walls are gone. Nickie has trouble walking, getting up and down, and eating ordinary dog food that is not goodie-enhanced. Nickie's days left are not many. Without the aid of pills, she wouldn't be around at all, since her pain would prohibit her from moving enough to function. We are blessed to have a dog live long enough to be this old. She is a loyal and good dog. Nickie would prefer to sleep outside Cassandra's bedroom window and guard her with her life. She protects us all. The best day of her life last winter was when, in the middle of the night, she was forced to take action against invading rats and bite one enough to cause it to bleed alot, disappearing all together...that next day she had PEP IN HER STEP. Probably one of the best days of her long life. I don't think she'll be around too much longer cuz of her pain, but she still has that Nickie glimmer in her eye, so we're all happy. She was really Richie's doggie, but we all love her. I tell you she gets more treats now than she ever has in her life. Probably the best part for her. We're lucky to have had her for so long.
